Lesson 6: Generation after prophet Nuh
And, his progeny, them We made the survivors.
Al-Qur’an 37:77
Generation after the Prophet Nuh
After the flood subsided Nuh and those who were on the Ark with him were saved and Allah caused the idols to be buried.
Allah not only saved them from the catastrophic flood but also from disbelief and misguidance.
Nuh continued to advise and warn his people to be upon the obedience of Allah and to be weary of the trials of this world. It has been reported that as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informed his people about the Dajjal, Nuh
(AS) also warned his people about him.
The descendents of Nuh became the progenitors of various nations including the Arabs,Persians, Byzantines, and the black skinned people.
On the day of Judgment, despite the clear guidance and warning provided by Nuh to his people, they denied him and rejected that he did convey the message to them.
- They denied him, but We delivered him, and those with him in the ship, and We made them generations replacing one after another, while We drowned those who belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). Then see what was the end of those who were warned. [Al-Qur’an 10:73]
- And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). [Al-Qur’an 37:76 -78]
- Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger ﷺ as saying: May I not inform you about the Dajjal what no Apostle of Allah narrated to his people? He would be blind and he would bring along with him an Image of Paradise and Hell-Fire and what he would call as Paradise that would be Hell-Fire and I warn you as Noah warned his people. [Sahih Muslim 2936] [Sahih Muslim Book 54, Hadith 133]
- Narrated Abu Sa`id: Allah's Messenger ﷺ said, "Noah and his nation will come (on the Day of Resurrection and Allah will ask (Noah), "Did you convey (the Message)?' He will reply, 'Yes, O my Lord!' Then Allah will ask Noah's nation, 'Did Noah convey My Message to you?' They will reply, 'No, no prophet came to us.' Then Allah will ask Noah, 'Who will stand a witness for you?' He will reply, 'Muhammad and his followers (will stand witness for me).' So, I and my followers will stand as witnesses for him (that he conveyed Allah's Message)." That is, (the interpretation) of the Statement of Allah: "Thus we have made you a just and the best nation that you might be witnesses Over mankind .." (2.143) [Sahih al-Bukhari 3339] [In-book reference : Book 60, Hadith 14]
- Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Allah's Messenger ﷺ said, "Noah will be brought (before Allah) on the Day of Resurrection, and will be asked, 'Did you convey the message of Allah?" He will reply, 'Yes, O Lord.' And then Noah's nation will be asked, 'Did he (Noah) convey Allah's message to you?' They will reply, 'No warner came to us.' Then Noah will be asked, 'Who are your witnesses?' He will reply. '(My witnesses are) Muhammad and his followers.' Thereupon you (Muslims) will be brought and you will bear witness." Then the Prophet ﷺ recited: 'And thus We have made of you (Muslims) a just and the best nation, that you might be witness over the nations, and the Apostle a witness over you.'
