Lesson 4: Allah orders Prophet Nuh 
to build the Ark
And as he was constructing the ship, whenever the chiefs of his people passed by him, they made a mockery of him.

Mocking a Messenger
As Prophet Nuh diligently embarked on the task of constructing the ark, his efforts were challenged. Whenever the chiefs of his people passed by him, they mocked him. They teased and rejected his threats of the forthcoming flood.
Despite their taunts and scorn, Nuh REMAINED STEADFAST in his mission, unwavering in his commitment to obeying Allah's command.
The ark, constructed under Allah's guidance, was built using sturdy materials such as wood and nails. Its design and dimensions were specified by Allah Himself to ensure its seaworthiness and capacity to withstand the impending flood.
The ark consisted of three levels, providing ample space for its occupants and the pairs of animals that were to be gathered aboard. These levels accommodated the various needs of the passengers and facilitated the organisation of supplies and provisions for the duration of their journey.
Upon completing the construction of the ark, Nuh turned to Allah in supplication, seeking his blessings and protection for himself, his family, and the believers who would accompany him on this journey. He entrusted their safety and well-being entirely to Allah's mercy, acknowledging His sovereignty and power over all things.
- And as he was constructing the ship, whenever the chiefs of his people passed by him, they made a mockery of him. He said: "If you mock at us, so do we mock at you likewise for your mocking."And you will know who it is on whom will come a torment that will cover him with disgrace and on whom will fall a lasting torment." [Al-Qur’an 11: 38-39]
- The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them. They rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. [Al-Qur’an 54:9]
- So We inspired him (saying): "Construct the ship under Our Eyes and under Our Revelation (guidance). Then, when Our Command comes, and the oven gushes forth water, take on board of each kind two (male and female), and your family, except those thereof against whom the Word has already gone forth. And address Me not in favour of those who have done wrong. Verily, they are to be drowned. [Al-Qur’an 23:27]
- And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails (or: prows that cut through the water). [Al-Qur’an 54:14]
- And when you have embarked on the ship, you and whoever is with you, then say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who are Zalimun (i.e. oppressors, wrong-doers, polytheists, those who join others in worship with Allah, etc.). And say: "My Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for You are the Best of those who bring to land." [Al-Qur’an 23:28-30]
